Description
of Company
Limestone Quarry For Sale
This company operates a limestone quarry which produces a variety of stone products
used for building and landscaping purposes. These builder's stone products are offered
in chopped, cut and flag stone in varying sizes to specialty cut stone including smooth-patio,
mantels, windowsills, lintels and other specialty cuts. Colors offered include pure white,
cream, brown, and blue/gray.
The company's attention to quality differentiates their stone from the competition's. Quality
is their primary emphasis established through their own standards of using precise high-quality
quarry and diamond cutting saws and hand loading the stone on trucks or pallets to prevent excessive
breakage. This means never "scooping" the loads (picking up like gravel with a front-end loader),
which is a much cheaper and easier method of loading, but greatly reduces both quality and percentage
of usable product. Both of these items, which exemplifies their commitment to quality, minimizes waste
and makes the stone easier to install. Customers learn that stone purchased from this company covers
more square footage per ton than stone purchased from other quarries. Greater utilization of the
product and better quality justifies the customers willingness to pay a premium for this product. This
greater utilization of product also helps extend the life of the quarry.
This company also prides itself in repeat business based upon outstanding customer service. They thrive
on orders which require specialty cuts. While they do maintain an inventory of standard stone available
for immediate sale, the bulk of their work is custom cut to fit each individual order. Customers who
have dealt with other quarries are impressed with the ease at which they are able to order and obtain
these specialty orders. Many quarries are so interested in "pushing product" that they lose sight of
the fact that most building projects require a variety of specialty cuts. This company's superior
product quality, attention to detail, and exceptional customer service is what differentiates them
from their competition.
Stone masons account for approximately Eighty-five percent of the customer orders, while the other
fifteen percent go to building contractors. Orders are either delivered by the company's four delivery
trucks anywhere in the state of Texas, or picked up on-site by the customer. Stone has been purchased
by customers from across the United States with orders as far away as Mississippi, California, and Idaho,
to name a few.
The owner intends to expand the company's capabilities by providing additional custom features. These
ideas are being implemented and may be discussed during a confidential meeting.

Describe facility(ies) |
The company's
quarry extends over 62 acres located outside of Austin, Texas. The quarry is underlain primarily
by the Georgetown Formation while the lower portion of the property is underlain by the Edwards
Limestone. Based upon an assessment of stone resources and production dated December 1999, the
remaining production life of the quarry at that time was estimated to be approximately 22.8 years.
The tonnage output has not changed significantly since the assessment.
The facility maintains an office, mechanic shop, and two buildings housing separate diamond
cutting saws. Production could be increased with additional personnel, but the owners have
chosen to concentrate on maintaining exceptional quality. |
